The University Graduate School supports postgraduates at the University of Birmingham. We offer a variety of academic, social and wellbeing activities throughout the year, as well as career development opportunities.
This induction session is designed especially for international students, outlining the services available to you and giving you the chance to ask questions about life at Birmingham to our postgraduate student panel.
PGT Essentials welcomes students on the following postgraduate courses: MA, MSc, MBA, MEd, LLM, MPH, Maths SKE, MPA, PG Affiliate, PG Certificate, PG Dip Ed, PG Diploma, and PGCE. It is open to international PGT students at the University of Birmingham only.
The event will include:
- Practical tips on pursuing a postgraduate degree
- A map of targeted academic skills and career development available to you during your studies
- The opportunity to ask questions about the postgraduate experience to recent Birmingham PGT students and members of staff
- A summary of the British University System, and other information on Higher Education relevant to postgraduate international students.

Please note, the event will NOT cover:
- College, School or module-specific information.
- Visa information.
- Information on Birmingham accommodation or renting.
However, if you have questions about these and are unsure who to ask, we will be able to point you in the right direction!
